Pretty recently I moved to Shanghai, China. Smog is a reality over here like I could have never imagined. That dingy layer of haze sits over the entire city covering everything. Sometimes you can feel it on your skin and in your mouth on exceptionally bad days… But something worse than the smog caused by polluted air is the spiritual smog existing over this place that is rooted in tradition and progressing in post-modernism.
Another time I will go into depth on what I have been learning about this spiritual smog, but for now it serves as the backdrop for why I was so impacted by The Spiritual Warfare Answer Book by Dr. David Jeremiah. I was not feeling great spiritually, constantly feeling attacked by doubts, plagued with anxiety, and a mind filled with terrible thoughts. I knew it was the voice of the Enemy but I felt that there was nothing I could do except for continue to be hit over the head with huge waves of darkness. That was when I discovered this book and immediately jumped into it.
In this book, the author explores spiritual warfare with a simple, effective, and practical writing style. He pens each chapter in the form of basic questions, and discovers answers within the pages of Scripture. The most impactful part of this book was it’s exploration of the Armor of God. If you are like me you’ve heard a bunch of sermons on the Armor, and if you are like me you would normally flip right past it’s mention in any book you pick up. Not because it is bad stuff to ponder, but how much more is there to learn? For me at least there is apparently a decent amount left to learn. Jeremiah jumps into each piece of armor with freshness and passion and it rubbed off on me.
Have you been feeling attacked by the Enemy? Check this book out! Have you not been attacked in quite some time? You probably have not been doing anything worth attacking, in which case get to the battlefield and then check this book out! It is changing the way I am doing battle in Shanghai and I bet it will do the same for you as well…
